That "Hot Lead" Will Be Stone Cold in 10 Minutes. Here's Why.
A new, qualified lead hits your inbox. It's a perfect fit.
You're excited... but you're also in the middle of focused work. You think, "This is great! I'll just finish this task and call them right after lunch."
After lunch becomes end of day. End of day becomes tomorrow morning.
By the time you finally call them 24 hours later, the magic is gone. They're busy, they've lost that initial "pain" that made them fill out your form, or worse: they've already spoken to your competitor.
As a solopreneur, your "inbox" is where leads go to die. A "to-do list" has no urgency. You're treating a five-alarm fire like a piece of mail.
Your "Fair" System Is Failing You
When you're a team-of-one, you have a "fair" system by default. You think, "I'll get to all my leads when I have time."
This is the exact same broken logic that fails in large sales teams. In big companies, I see managers "fairly" distribute leads in a round-robin. The problem? If a rep is at lunch or out of office, that hot lead sits. It collects dust.
I've seen leads that are weeks old that have never been contacted.
